WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels will appear at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Kevin Owens previously took Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes out by hitting him with a piledriver after their match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Rhodes returned on the December 27th episode of WWE SmackDown. He agreed to face Kevin Owens in a Ladder Match at WWE Royal Rumble. Rhodes brawled with Owens on the January 10th episode of WWE SmackDown during a tag team match where he teamed up with Jimmy Uso to face The Bloodline.
On the January 17th episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes told Nick Aldis that he was cleared to compete. Aldis then said that he had an addendum to the contract for the title match to ensure that what happened at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event would not be repeated. Rhodes said that he would not sign it until Owens did.
Aldis later spoke with Owens, who said that he wouldn’t sign it until Rhodes signed it. Owens then defeated Rey Mysterio, and Rhodes made the save when Owens attacked Mysterio after the match. Backstage, Aldis announced that Shawn Michaels would moderate the contract signing between Rhodes and Owens at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25th.
