Action Bronson Says AEW Never Called Him Back, ‘Backstage Is Weird Over There’

Action Bronson wasn’t called back by AEW after wrestling his debut match for the company.

The rapper is a name familiar to the AEW fans. He performs Hook’s entrance theme song “The Chairman’s Intent”, and has even teamed with the young star in a tag team match.

HOOK and Action Bronson teamed together at AEW Rampage: Grand Slam in 2022. The duo battled Angelo Parker and Matt Menard in the rapper’s debut in wrestling.

Bronson received plenty of praise for his performance, and he picked up the victory in the bout. HOOK and Action Bronson locked in dual Redrum submission holds, forcing 2.0 to tap out for the victory. However, things weren’t all as they seemed behind the scenes.

Action Bronson appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show and revealed that AEW never called him back to appear again. He added that he wanted to do more in the match, but the wrestlers didn’t want to take the moves.

“You know what they do? They don’t call you back. I never got called back. Never. There was an angle there. There was something there, something I felt. I’m ready right now. Bad Bunny? Travis? We have history. These [expletives] don’t know how to wrestle—I wrestle. I sold out the [expletive] Arthur Ashe Stadium. I was ready to frog splash off the top.” Action Bronson said.

“Yeah, but they didn’t want to take the bump. They didn’t want to take the facebuster. I got all kinds of videos. I threw out a little, I do a little lure out there [to WWE].”

Action Bronson added that he’s “100% ready to go” if AEW or WWE come calling again.

Action Bronson: Backstage In AEW Was Weird

Despite his great match in AEW, Action Bronson did not enjoy the atmosphere backstage in AEW.

He called the people backstage “cliquey” and said they had “weird vibes” at the AEW Grand Slam show at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“I don’t like the back. The backstage is weird over there. Why? It’s just weird. It’s like… everyone is cliquey. I wasn’t looking to be welcomed, but you could tell—it was just weird vibes.” Action Bronson said.

It’s important to note that his match was just weeks after CM Punk’s backstage fight with The Elite following All Out 2022. This likely would have had an impact on the feeling backstage.
