AEW Dynamite Results:
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with the in-ring return of Kenny Omega as he takes on Brian Cage of the Don Callis Family.
Kenny Omega vs. Brian Cage (w/ Don Callis and Lance Archer)
- The finish of the match saw Kenny Omega hit Brian Cage with the One Winged Angel to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Kenny Omega
After the match, Kyle Fletcher hits the ring and attacks Omega with Lance Archer. This brings out Will Ospreay who evens the odds and he and Omega clear the ring. Konosuke Takeshita marches to the ring and he and Omega have a face-off and start exchanging blows. Fletcher attacks Omega from behind allowing Takeshita to get the advantage until Ospreay gets back in the ring, but both Ospreay and Omega are taken out.
Grade: A-
A great match to kick off tonight’s Dynamite. It seems abundantly clear to me that Omega is gonna be the man to take the International Title away from Takeshita this year. I would imagine that would lead many to want a unification match with Kazuchika Okada and his Continental Championship at All In. Will it happen? We’ll find out soon enough.
MVP returns to the ring later tonight
A quick video package airs featuring The Hurt Syndicate who are in action later tonight against Private Party and Mark Briscoe.
We hear from The Learning Tree, who terribly hype this Saturday’s 12-man tag on AEW Collision. With this being a match many already don’t want to see, this certainly didn’t help matters.
Ricochet makes his way to the ring in a suit to speak to the audience. The crowd chants “Swerve’s House” at him. Ricochet gets upset at the fans for not letting him talk and says a picture is worth a thousand words and shows a photo with him and a bloody Swerve Strickland on the Tron.
Swerve Strickland’s music hits and Prince Nana hits Ricochet from behind with a steel chair and proceeds to dance. Strickland makes his way to the ring with a steel chain and swings it at Ricochet, but he gets away and escapes through the crowd. Swerve follows him into the crowd and Ricochet runs out of the venue and into the snow.
A vignette for Mercedes Moné airs, which recaps everything she’s done in the past week outside of the ring.
The Hurt Syndicate vs. Private Party and Mark Briscoe
- The finish of the match saw Shelton Benjamin hit Marq Quen with a Superkick to score the pinfall victory for his team.
Winners: The Hurt Syndicate
Grade: B+
Very fun trios match. It was great to see MVP back in the ring on such a big stage. Porter doesn’t look like he missed a beat and The Hurt Syndicate made a case for why they deserve a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
The rivalry between Rated FTR and the Death Riders continues
A match between The Rated R Superstar Cope and PAC is announced for next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
They air a quick video package showcasing the rivalry between Rated FTR and the Death Riders.
