PWA Tag Race Preview: PWA Tag Titles On The Line, Van Blair vs. Bonza, Six-Person Tag Action

The engines are revving up for Pro-Wrestling Australia Tag Race.

From February 14 until March 2, Australia will run its largest LGBTQ+ celebration, Sydney Mardi Gras, along the streets of Sydney. In a similar spirit, Pro-Wrestling Australia will host Tag Race on January 31, with several LGBTQ+-identifying competitors on the card and wrestling’s favorite drag queen Sidney Rail handling hosting duties. PWA Tag Race will emanate from The Factory Theatre in Marrickville, New South Wales.

“Tag Race is more than just a wrestling event; it’s a celebration of community, inclusivity and the unique artistry of Australian wrestling,” said Rail. “Pro Wrestling Australia has always been a space where stories and identities are embraced, and the LGBTQ+ community is not just represented, but celebrated. It’s a powerful reminder that wrestling is for everyone.”

Per a press release obtained by WrestleZone, seven matches have been confirmed for PWA Tag Race so far, including a singles bout between Nikki Van Blair and PWA veteran Jack J. Bonza. Last year, Blair notably solidified herself as the first trans woman to wrestle for New Japan Wrestling Tamashii.

“PWA works hard to foster a safe environment with equal opportunities for all, where people are not treated any differently to anyone else based on their gender identity or sexual orientation,” Blair said. “For me personally, I do not feel oppressed or held down because of who I am, so it is my right to stand on equal ground with Jack J. Bonza and show him that in the game of life, the Queen Bee trumps the Rogue Commander!”

Tag Titles On The Line & More

Elsewhere at Tag Race, Aaron Jake and Bel Pierce will defend their PWA Tag Team Championships against Everett Connors and Shay Kassidy of The Backslide Girlz.

PWA Premiership 2025 will also kick off when Robbie Thorpe, Tony Sin and Hari Singh take on three members of MK+ Ultra. Meanwhile, Third Eye will face Big Fudge, Billy Preston and Skater Boi Pidgey. The Regime (Backman & Ricky South) will be in action as they battle The VeloCities (Jude London & Paris De Silva). Lena Kross vs. Ben Braxton will also take the stage.

Finally, in the main event, North Shore Wrestling (Will Kiedis, Sam Osborne & Charli Evans) will square off with Scott Green and The Tuckman, together known as The Dropouts, and their first-time tag partner, Jimmy Townsend. PWA Heavyweight Champion Jessica Troy was also advertised for the event, though she is unable to wrestle due to an ankle injury.
