Counsel For Janel Grant Files Motion For Status Conference With District Court

There has been a new update in Janel Grant‘s lawsuit against Vince McMahon.

In January 2024, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis, alleging that she was the victim of physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking at WWE. McMahon denied the allegations, but he has been under investigation regarding the allegations. A six-month stay on the lawsuit recently expired.

In an update, attorneys for Janel Grant filed another motion in which they requested a status conference about the lawsuit before the United States District of Connecticut earlier today. Grant’s attorneys stated that they were writing, “to inform the Court of the new status quo and request its guidance on how best to move this litigation forward” following the SEC’s announcement that Vince McMahon had settled the charges against him.

Grant’s motion highlights how the United States government advised her attorneys that it did not seek an extension of the aforementioned stay. The motion stated that the SEC’s announcement was “material development that is highly relevant to this matter.” Grant’s attorneys state that they need more time to assess the developments regarding the SEC’s announcement and the findings it contained as they continue to work on an amended complaint. Furthermore, the filing notes that Grant’s attorneys were withdrawing the potential schedule that they proposed due to the amended complaint.

Grant’s attorneys also noted they were withdrawing the potential schedule they had proposed for the case as the Amended Complaint would negate it.
