AEW Collision Results:
This week’s episode of AEW Collision kicks off with quick promos from Harley Cameron, Mariah May, The Learning Tree, and Rated FTR to hype up their matches this evening.
The Rated R Superstar Cope vs. Big Bill (w/ The Learning Tree)
- The finish of the match saw Cope lock Big Bill in a rear naked choke to win the match by knockout.
Winner: The Rated R Superstar Cope
After the match, Chris Jericho and Bryan Keith attack Cope but FTR runs out and even the odds. Security eventually comes out to separate the six men.
Grade: B+
This was a fun opening contest. I can’t recall these two ever having a singles match together before. But I certainly remember all the jokes that Big Bill looks like a giant version of Edge. I think Bill has a bright future in AEW when he finally breaks away from the Learning Tree nonsense.
Hangman Page bares his soul…
A video package plays recapping Kenny Omega’s return on AEW Dynamite.
Hangman Page is backstage and cuts a passionate promo about letting his family get hurt during his rivalry with Swerve Strickland. Page says eventually he had to choose to either remain the husk of the man he was or do something about it. Page says he made sure Swerve no longer held the AEW World Championship and burned his house to the ground.
Hangman says he understands what Christopher Daniels was trying to say to him. However, he thinks he humored him for too long. Page says Daniels crossed a line last week when he laid his hands on him and for that, he will pay the price. Page challenges Daniels to a Texas Death Match next week on Collision.
PAC vs. Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes)
- The finish of the match saw PAC lock Komander in the Brutalizer to earn the submission victory.
Winner: PAC
After the match, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta make their way to the ring through the crowd. The three men look to continue the beatdown on Komander but The Outrunners hit the ring and make the save. This also leads to their scheduled match tonight happening right now.
Grade: A-
This match was just announced this afternoon and you knew as soon as it did that these two were going to bring it. And they absolutely did. Ever since the Continental Classic Komander has been on another level in AEW. I’m excited to see where his career goes this year.
Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta vs. The Outrunners
- The finish of the match saw Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta use the double-team Rocket Launcher from the top rope. Yuta scored the pinfall victory for his team.
Winners: Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta
Grade: B-
It was your basic tag match that I would have expected from these two teams. Nothing wrong with it, but it was just kinda there. Easily the weakest match on the show so far tonight for me.
Powerhouse Hobbs is ready for Jon Moxley
We hear from Powerhouse Hobbs. Hobbs says he’s been listening to Moxley from the beginning and everything he says he wants is in front of him. Hobbs says he stepped up and took the initiative by winning the Casino Gauntlet. He points out that he confronted Moxley on Dynamite and he cowered and tucked his tail and ran. Hobbs says he knows they are in Moxley’s hometown on Wednesday but he doesn’t care because he’s gonna make Mox his bitch.
Harley Cameron vs. Mariah May
- The finish of the match saw Mariah May hit Harley Cameron with Storm Zero to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Mariah May
Grade: B+
This was a damn good match. Hot girl graps as Mariah May would say. My only issue is that this wasn’t a title match. We all know she was going to win, you might as well get a successful title defense under your belt in the process. These logic choices in wrestling have always frustrated me over the years. If the champion is going to win, put the title on the line.
Christopher Daniels responds to Hangman
Christopher Daniels says he never went to Hangman as an EVP, he came to him as a friend. Daniels says Page asking him what he’s done hurt him and runs down his list of accomplishments. Daniels accepts his challenge and tells Page he’s gonna beat his ass next week on Collision.
Brody King (w/ Julia Hart) vs. Trevor Blackwell
- The finish of the match saw Brody King hit Trevor Blackwell with the Gonzo Bomb to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Brody King
Grade: N/A
An entertaining squash match for what it was designed to be. But I rarely grade them and this time is no different.
Brody King and Julia Hart are backstage after the commercial break. King says it’s a real confusing time for the House of Black. Cope comes in and says they’ve been through a lot, but he hopes King knows at the end of all of it he respects him. Cope says he has a world of potential at his feet and wanted them to be a group, but now King needs to take the reigns of his group and run with it.
TNT Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata
- The finish of the match saw Daniel Garcia catch Katsuyori Shibata with the jackknife pin to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: And still TNT Champion, Daniel Garcia
After the match, both men showed respect to one another by raising each other’s hands.
Grade: A
This is exactly what I want to see out of Daniel Garcia’s TNT Title reign. Matches like this and what we got with Mark Briscoe last week. Bring the prestige back to this title with consistent title defenses that get fans excited. More of this!
A video package plays with Renee Paquette running down the rules of the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match which takes place this Wednesday on Dynamite.
Keep refreshing throughout the evening for live coverage of tonight’s episode of AEW Collision.
