Femi won the NXT Championship at NXT New Year’s Evil. There, he defeated Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe in a Triple Threat Match. However, the match did not main-event the show. Instead, The Rock went on last, as he addressed the crowd.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, NXT Champion Oba Femi was asked about The Rock closing NXT New Year’s Evil. He was asked why he didn’t go up to The Rock about supposedly taking the main event spot, as the hosts joked that NXT was his brand.
“Yes, of course it is, this is all mine,” Femi said. “At the moment the time was being stolen from me, I wasn’t even aware it was being stolen from me. Maybe if I knew, I would have gone up to him and been like, ‘Hey, Uncle Dwayne, what are you doing?’
“I’ll let it slide this time. But the next time Uncle Dwayne comes in and steals time from me, there’s going to be problems.”
