Marshall Von Erich gives an update on the pec injury that has sidelined him for months.
The son of Kevin Von Erich has been out of action since September due to a pectoral injury. His last match was an ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Proving Ground match, where Ross and Marshall Von Erich teamed with Dustin Rhodes to beat the Premier Athletes.
However, he suffered an injury during that match. The group did not vacate their titles as Marshall Von Erich’s partners patiently waited for him to be clear. Luckily, that has now happened.
Speaking on The Claw podcast, Marshall Von Erich confirmed that he is now 100% cleared to wrestle again (H/T to Fightful for the transcription).
Additionally, he noted that the injury came from too much working out and being too heavy for his body to handle. Now he is a “little lighter” and feeling great.
“I’m 100%,” he said when asked how he’s feeling. “I was hurt. I was hurt in September, I partially ripped my pec. Ross and I have been training like crazy. Honestly, I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve ever felt. I needed to lose some weight anyway.”
“I was getting pretty heavy.” Marshall Von Erich said.” I was just bulking up and overdoing it to a point where my muscles were getting really tense. It’s good for me to be a little lighter so I can stretch and be flexible because I’m naturally a pretty stiff person.”
The Von Erichs are expected to wrestle at AEW All In this summer. This will be in the Von Erich Family’s home territory of Texas.
Marshall Von Erich On The Pressure Of Being A Von Erich
At the ROH Death Before Dishonor post-show media scrum, Marshall Von Erich spoke about the pressures of being part of a legendary wrestling family.
“You know, I’d be lying if I said that there wasn’t pressure being a Von Erich, my brother and I hold this name with… It’s an Oath, it’s a duty. And tonight the pressure felt a little bit heavier. Because, not only we’re representing our family but the Rhodes family, this name that was built on blood, sweat, and sacrifice.”
“Do my brother and I, this is a little deep. My brother and I we’re around the ages that my uncles left and we both feel this Oath, ot only to finish their story but to write our own. We want to thank Tony [Khan[ for making this possible. We believe that the Von Erichs name will be a household name once again and being here with Dustin… This is dreams come true. This is crazy. Really is crazy,” Marshall Vin Erich said.
