Kenny Omega Wants To Take His In-Ring Return ‘As Far As We Can Go’

Kenny Omega hinted at his future goals as he prepares to return to the ring in AEW.

The former AEW Champion had to take some time off in December 2023 due to diverticulitis. He stayed out of wrestling for over a year, returning this week for a fantastic match with Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty.

AEW have announced that Kenny Omega will be on Dynamite this week, while the man himself has taken to Twitter to announce his goals for the future.

Kenny Omega took to Twitter recently, posting a photograph of his outfit for his entrance at Wrestle Dynasty. The caption spoke about his journey with illness and his plans to “reclaim” something upon his return to AEW.

Whether this is a reference to his feud with Kazuchika Okada or a challenge towards Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship is unknown. Both would be brilliant options for the former AEW Champion and one that fans would welcome for Kenny Omega’s comeback.

“A year to rebuild. Less to reclaim. Let’s take this as far as we can go.” Kenny Omega wrote.

Kenny Omega: I Had A Hand In Building A True Alternative, It’s A Thankless Position

In his backstage comments following NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty, Kenny Omega was asked to comment on how he felt after the match.

“I’m conflicted,” Omega said. “Listen, I passed my peak a long time ago. It’s funny, it was 2012. I was in the main event, and I thought, boy, I’ve come so far. I’ve done more than I ever thought I could have. It’s time to give everything, and I would feel proud to die in this ring. I wasn’t even close to my peak. And then I won the G1, and I thought that was my peak. Then I won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and I thought that was my peak. I had a hand in creating a true alternative of pro wrestling, and so many people have changed their lives for the better. It was a very thankless position. So many people living their dream lives. Not once did I get a thank you. Nor did I expect one. I thought that was my peak.

“Today, I sat in my hotel room before the show, and a part of me, in a moment of weakness, was truly hoping for someone to reach out and ask, ‘Kenny, how are you doing? Kenny, good luck.’ Never came. Except for one person. And boy, would it have been nice to have that person in my corner today. But it’s funny. You never get what you truly want in wrestling. So I had to face this battle alone. I accepted it. That’s just the business that this is. Now, you have a new hero here in Japan. Gabe, he’s young, he’s hungry, he’s passionate, and he has no qualms about doing everything it takes until he gets what he wants. That’s the kind of person New Japan needs now. Enjoy it.”
