The Rock made a special appearance at WWE NXT New Year’s Evil.
“The Final Boss” stayed in town after appearing at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere in Los Angeles, as he went to NXT New Year’s Evil the next day.
The Rock appeared backstage and talked to Ethan Page, and he shook Page’s hand. The Rock said that he heard a lot about him, though not all of it was good. He said that he told the whole roster that if they needed anything, they should come to him. He told Page the same thing. The Rock then said that he’d see Page on the main roster one day.
The Rock then came to the ring at the end of the show. He looked back on how he was criticized for being mean to Cody Rhodes on the road to WWE WrestleMania 40. The Rock then noted that he was criticized for being “nice” to Rhodes at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere. He said that he was thinking 20 steps ahead, so the critics should know their role, shut their mouth, and enjoy the ride.
The Rock On NXT
The Rock then admitted that he didn’t know what to say, but he wanted to thank the fans. He noted that he saw plenty of stars at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere, so that was the show you “had” to go to, but NXT New Year’s Evil was the show you wanted to go to. The Rock said that the fans were critical to this “whole thing.” He noted that talent on the NXT roster could main-event WrestleMania, or they could be out of the business, but it depended on the fans.
The Rock wrapped his message up by saying that his job often took him away, but he would always come home.
