Matt Hardy: John Cena Is A WWE Lifer, The Epitome Of A Company Guy That You Want

2025 will mark the last year the WWE Universe sees 16-time World Champion John Cena wrestle. Last year Cena announced that his retirement tour starts in January of 2025. Cena made his first appearance in the New Year this Monday at the Raw Netflix debut. Recently, current TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy shared his thoughts on John Cena.

While speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy believes that John Cena will be a WWE Superstar for life unlike stars such as Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Steve Austin.

“John Cena is a WWE lifer,” Hardy said. “He’s never taken his ball and went home, as ‘Stone Cold’ did. He never went to WCW as Hulk Hogan did. He’s been loyal the whole while. The epitome of the company employee that you want. A top guy. Did all the Make-a-Wish stuff. Such a great representation of the company on all levels.” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]

Hardy also mentioned that considering that Cena is a WWE Superstar for life, the company would want to have him hold the record for having the most World Title Wins.

“Just looking back at that, they go, ‘Hey, if we’re gonna give somebody this designation and make him have the most reigns as a World Champion in all of history, we want a guy who’s WWE through and through,” Matt Hardy said.
