CM Punk wants to top 2024 in 2025 but warns his body is falling apart.
2024 say the former WWE Champion wrestled just five televised matches. This was due to a tricep tear he suffered in the Royal Rumble match, which he cried about for eight minutes after being told the news by his doctor.
CM Punk spoke at the Raw on Netflix post-show about his injury in 2024 and his body “falling apart”. He said that his mind has never been sharper and that he used his injury to make 2024 one of his best years yet, with matches against Drew McIntyre and the Bloodline a highlight.
CM Punk added that his goal is to make 2025 even better, hopefully by remaining injury-free.
CM Punk’s body is falling apart, but his mind has never been sharper
“I don’t want people to focus on the words, ‘my body is falling apart.’ I want people to understand that I’m 46 years old, and the bittersweet part of this business is that I’m just now starting to truly understand it, and yet my body is falling apart.
“But my mind has never been sharper. I think about tearing my tricep and spending eight minutes by myself in a Tampa-Orlando hotel room, crying my eyes out before I could get the guts to call my wife to tell her I was hurt.” CM Punk added. “I felt sorry for myself and thought, ‘This is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.’
“I don’t even know if that’s true because a lot of bad stuff has happened to me. But I told myself I was going to make it the best thing that ever happened to me—and I think I did. I made it such a speedbump, I was still on TV, still in the mix. I was on the microphone, in a sling, in front of everybody. And I really took the lemons life gave me and turned them into gold. So, I don’t think I’ve ever been better. 2024 was one of the best years of my career, and my goal for 2025 is obviously to top what I did in 2024.”
