One of the biggest rivalries in WWE in the past year was the one between the self-proclaimed Best in the World CM Punk and the Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre. The two stars had some of the most brutal matches in 2024 and their rivalry came to an end inside the Devil’s Playground Hell in A Cell. While McIntyre picked up the win when they wrestled at SummerSlam, the next two encounters, including the Hell in a Cell match, CM Punk emerged victorious.
Recently, while speaking to The Ringer, Drew McIntyre reflected on his rivalry against the Second City Saint. McIntyre mentioned that things began to heat up from the first interview the two had face-to-face. McIntyre was prepared to verbally assault CM Punk.
“The first interview we had [when Punk returned] I was able to look him in the eye to let him know I’m not the same kid I once was. He made the one comment…
“You can see the look in my eye. ‘All right, I’ll show you. Things are getting different around here.’ I can feel it, and I feel myself being like, ‘I’m going to say whatever the hell I want [now]. I’m not going to go off on a tangent with story parameters, but I’m going to shred you,’” McIntyre said.
Currently, CM Punk and McIntyre are set to compete on Monday Night Raw’s Netflix debut. McIntyre will wrestle Jey Uso while CM Punk will battle Seth Rollins. McIntyre also told The Ringer that does not care about the issue Rollins has with Punk.
“Whatever incident had happened one time when [Rollins] was a kid, [Punk] wouldn’t train him, I guess,” Drew explains. “I don’t care about all that crap.”
