AEW Collision Results:
This week’s episode of AEW Collision kicks off with quick backstage promos from Mark Briscoe, Daniel Garcia, The Learning Tree, and Rated FTR to hype up their matches for tonight’s show.
TNT Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Mark Briscoe
- The finish of the match saw Daniel Garcia catch Mark Briscoe with a bridging jackknife pin to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: And still TNT Champion, Daniel Garcia
Briscoe and Garcia show mutual respect to one another following the match.
Grade: A
Wow! What a great way to kick off tonight’s show. These two tore it down in the Continental Classic and followed up with another great match tonight. The locker room better step up to meet the level of that opening contest.
The Death Riders issue a warning to Rated FTR
The Death Riders are backstage. Wheeler Yuta is angry about Jay White getting involved in the trios match on Dynamite. Jon Moxley interrupts him and starts talking about FTR and speaks about their history.
Moxley turns his attention to Adam Copeland. Mox says Copeland has done it all and seen everything, but the AEW of the future survival comes at a cost, and says he needs to evolve and turn into something new.
Jeff Jarrett vs. Aaron Solo
- The finish of the match sees Jeff Jarret hit Aaron Solo with The Stroke to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
Grade: N/A
This was a bonafide squash match. No reason to rate it. Just AEW giving Jarrett a win before the Death Riders ultimately crush him. This was very paint-by-numbers booking from Tony Khan here. He loves to give people quick wins on Collision before they lose a bigger match in the weeks ahead.
A video package plays recapping what Ricochet did to Swerve Strickland on Dynamite.
AEW World Tag Team Titles: Lio Rush and Action Andretti vs. Private Party (c)
- The finish saw Action Andretti and Lio Rush try to cheat with a leverage pin assist from the outside, but Dante Martin intervenes allowing Kassidy to pick up the rollup win for his team.
Winners: And still Tag Team Champions, Private Party
Grade: B+
Damn good tag match. Didn’t love the finish personally, but that doesn’t hurt the overall match too badly. I do kinda wish both title matches weren’t decided tonight with variations of a rollup pin. We need more definitive wins in AEW from the people who hold championships in my opinion.
A video package plays recapping Jon Moxley tossing Darby Allin down a flight of stairs on the final episode of AEW Rampage.
The Rated R Superstar responds to Moxley on AEW Collision
Adam Copeland is backstage with Lexy Nair. Copeland explains why he returned to the company and is coming after Moxley and the AEW World Championship. He’s interrupted by Chris Jericho, who reminds him of their trios match later on tonight.
Copeland says he respects Jericho and runs down their history together. Jericho says he doesn’t remember any of that. Copeland calls him an asshole and Jericho calls him a dope.
Toni Storm vs. Deonna Purrazzo (w/ Taya Valkyrie)
- The finish of the match saw Toni Storm catch Deonna Purrazzo with an inside cradle to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Toni Storm
Grade: B
Not counting the squash Jarrett match, all three actual matches tonight have ended in rollups. This is getting excessive. This company has some great producers, and they need to talk to each other to make sure all of their matches don’t end in a similar fashion.
Christopher Daniels has had enough
We see a video of what went down between Hangman Page and Christopher Daniels Wednesday night following Dynamite. A back-and-forth argument ends in a brawl with Daniels being busted open. But The Fallen Angel gets the better of Page and is the one to walk away from the fight.
$100,000 High Speed Collision 4-Way: Komander vs. Dante Martin vs. Brian Cage vs. The Beast Mortos
- The finish of the match saw Brian Cage hit Dante Martin with a Gory Special into the Flatliner to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Brian Cage
Grade: B+
Very fun four-way and the finish not being a rollup makes it even better. A nice win for Brian Cage following losing the ROH Television Championship at Final Battle.
The Outrunners meet The Rock n Roll Express
FTR are backstage with The Rock n Roll Express. Dax Harwood apologizes for hitting them with a spike piledriver a few years back. The Outrunners come in and pretend they have heat with them but end up shaking their hands. It was certainly a segment that took place.
Rated FTR vs. The Learning Tree
- The finish of the match saw FTR hit Chris Jericho with the Shatter Machine followed by a Spear by Copeland to score the pinfall victory for his team.
Winners: Rated FTR
Grade: B+
Rated FTR celebrate their victory in the ring as Jon Moxley comes on the Tron and has Rock n Roll Express tied up backstage. The Outrunners try to make the save and are taken out. Rated FTR head to the back and the Death Riders bail as AEW Collision goes off the air.
AEW Collision Review:
This show started off really hot with a great TNT Title match. But repetitive variations of roll-up finishes really took the show down a bit for me as the show went along. Luckily, the main event finished things strong enough to make for an enjoyable show overall.
Grade: B
