Tiffany Stratton has won the gold.
On the January 3 episode of WWE SmackDown, Nia Jax defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi. Jax previously defended the title against Naomi on the November 15 episode of WWE SmackDown. In recent weeks, Naomi has teamed up with Bianca Belair and taken Jade Cargill’s place as the co-holder of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Jax and Naomi battled it out on Friday. They were accompanied to the ring by Candice LeRae and Belair, respectively. Jax overpowered Naomi and grounded her. Naomi rallied and stomped Jax. She hit a leg-drop for a two-count. Naomi kept rolling with a dive to the outside. She rocked Jax with a kick and dropped her with a Samoan drop. Jax fired up and hit a diving leg-drop for a near fall.
Naomi persevered and hit a tornado DDT. She then slammed Jax through the ropes. The challenger continued to throw everything that she had at Jax. LeRae tried to interfere, but Belair took her out. Jax dropped Belair at ringside and drove her into the steel steps. Naomi then countered a powerslam off the top rope. Tiffany Stratton ran down and teased cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase, but it was a ruse, as she hit Naomi with the briefcase. Jax then hit the Annihilator for the win.
After the bell, Tiffany Stratton hit Jax with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Belair then slammed Jax with the KOD. Stratton took Belair out and cashed in her briefcase. She then hit the Prettiest Moonsault for the win. In doing so, she won the WWE Women’s Championship, which marks her first singles title on the main roster.
Nia Jax won the title by defeating Bayley at WWE SummerSlam. She held the title for 153 days.
