Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes provided an update on his condition on WWE SmackDown.
Kevin Owens previously attacked Rhodes following their match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Owens dropped Rhodes with a piledriver, and the champion was taken out on a stretcher. Rhodes was then absent from WWE programming until he returned on the December 27 episode of WWE SmackDown. There, he challenged Owens to face him, and Nick Aldis confirmed that they would clash in a Ladder Match at WWE Royal Rumble.
Cody Rhodes kicked off the January 3 episode of WWE SmackDown and highlighted how it was an exciting time in WWE. He brought up SmackDown moving to three hours and RAW moving to Netflix. Rhodes said that he could only be involved so much, as he was technically cleared to wrestle because of Kevin Owens. Before he could elaborate, Drew McIntyre interrupted Rhodes.
McIntyre and Rhodes went back and forth. As McIntyre left, Owens attacked Rhodes from behind. They then brawled until they were separated.
