Tay Melo made her return to the ring at STARDOM New Year Dream on January 3.
Melo had not wrestled since March 2023. She announced her pregnancy in May 2023, and she gave birth to her daughter in November. In recent months, she has been training to return to the ring. Melo wrestled for the first time in over a year at STARDOM New Year Dream where she and Mina Shirakawa lost to Athena and Thekla.
Melo then commented on her return to the ring backstage.
“I really have no words, I’m a crybaby,” Tay Melo said. “So I just cry because I’m so happy. I don’t even have anything to say. It’s so cliche, but it’s…I feel like I’m exploding, I’m so happy to be in the ring. My first match back after so long with Mina, Athena, Thekla, big names, and I’m there with the best. We lost, but I know I did good. I will keep training, I will do better.
“I’m just so happy, grateful because Mina helped me so much. Everybody was so nice. I love Japan. Maybe I’ll move here [laughs], I really love Japan. So I’m just so grateful.”
Shirakawa and Melo then noted that they would keep teaming together.
