TNA iMPACT Results:
This week’s episode of TNA iMPACT kicks off with a recap of the Final Resolution event that took place several weeks ago…
Joe Hendry comes to the ring and talks about becoming the new number-one contender for Nic Nemeth’s TNA World Championship at Final Resolution. The two will face off later this month at Genesis.
Ryan Nemeth comes out and tells Hendry that he and his brother don’t trust him and none of the fans should trust him either. Nemeth calls him a mid-carder and Hendry says he’ll tell a personal story. Hendry says he’s been having trouble sleeping and he went to the doctor who recommended the Ryan Nemeth comedy show and he was out in minutes. Hendry says if he’s a mid-carder, Nemeth is the janitor.
Nemeth puts over the fact that he’ll be facing Rhino later on tonight. Hendry suggests they should do the match right now and Rhino makes his way to the ring. This match will happen now.
Ryan Nemeth vs. Rhino
- The finish of the match saw Ryan Nemeth attempt to use a steel chair on Rhino but is stopped, Rhino then uses it on him instead and gets disqualified.
Winner: Ryan Nemeth via DQ
Grade: C-
This was brutal and a horrible farewell to Rhino’s latest run with the company. The finish voids all lack of logic and makes a TNA Hall of Famer look like a complete idiot on his way out the door. Not a great start to the show tonight.
Jordynne Grace comments on Tessa Blanchard’s return to TNA Wrestling
Jordynne Grace is backstage with Gia Miller. Grace says Tessa Blanchard took her ball and went home and now she’s back trying to claim that she runs the division. Grace says she’s represented the company across the world and during a global pandemic. Jordynne says she’ll be in the main event tonight and she’s not the same person she was five years ago but she knows she’s the same old Tessa.
The Rascalz are backstage and they make it clear they would love to be next in line to challenge The Hardys for the TNA World Tag Team Titles. The Hardys come in and Matt says The Rascalz remind them of themselves and believes Genesis deserves a big match and he accepts their challenge. The four men shake hands.
KUSHIDA vs. Ace Austin
- The finish of the match saw Ace Austin his KUSHIDA with The Fold to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Ace Austin
Grade: B+
A much better match than what they opened with and a strong win for Ace Austin. It’s being reported that KUSHIDA won’t be with the company for much longer. And all things considered, he was treated much better here than Rhino was treated earlier. It will be interesting to see where TNA goes with Austin while Chris Bey is out recovering from a serious injury.
Ace Austin’s path is revealed
It didn’t take long to get my question answered as Ace Austin got on a microphone after the match and spoke about his friend Chris Bey and said he told him that he hopes he goes on a big singles run while he’s gone. Austin says he wants Nic Nemeth and the TNA World Championship.
TNA X-Division Champion Moose interrupts Ace Austin and makes his way to the ring. Moose says the X-Division Championship is the flagship title of the company and without it, TNA wouldn’t be the hottest company on the planet right now. Moose says he’s holding onto the top title in the company right now and implies that Ace Austin is scared of him and that he’s learned something about him.
Austin wants to know what it is. Moose goes to mention Bey and Austin gets heated. Austin says he will not speak about Bey. Ace reminds Moose that he’s a three-time X-Division Champion and if he wanted to he’ll become a four-time champion right now. Santino Marella interrupts and makes a title match between the two men at Genesis.
Backstage a brawl breaks out between The System, Steve Maclin, Eric Young, and Jonathan Gresham. The six men have to be pulled apart by security.
Another match for Rhino on TNA iMPACT?
Backstage Ryan Nemeth is whining and complaining about Joe Hendry and Rhino hitting him with a steel chair. Nic Nemeth shows up and Ryan tells him a revised version of the truth. Rhino comes in and says what really happened, but before the three of them could come to blows Santino shows up to calm things down.
Marella says next week there will be a tag match with Rhino and a partner of his choosing can take on the Nemeth brothers. Joe Hendry comes in and says he’ll team with Rhino next week. So it appears we’ll get one more match for Rhino after all?
Josh Alexander and Mike Santana have a promo in the ring. Alexander talks about the history between LAX and The North. Alexander says Santana left TNA for other opportunities and didn’t win any titles. Josh says as long as he’s in TNA, Santana will never be the guy.
Mike Santana says Alexander might be right that he left and did nothing and Alexander became the guy in the company. Santana questions if he did it or if it was just him sucking up to the guy who was in charge of the pencil in the company at the time. Mike goes on to admit that Alexander did it on his own, so I don’t see the reason for saying that line to begin with. Santana challenges them to a match on iMPACT next week.
Frankie Kazarian teases calling his shot at Genesis
Frankie Kazarian is backstage teasing he might cash in his title shot at Genesis. Leon Slater comes in and Kazarian puts him over and says he thinks he needs some coaching. Slater says that would be kind of cool.
Kaz asks if Slater will carry his trophy for him, and Slater says that’s not him and he’s not here to be a young boy. Slater says he wants to create his own legacy. Kazarian says Slater better remember who paved that road. JDC comes in when Slater leaves and the two converse about him.
Jordynne Grace, Masha Slamovich, and Spitfire vs. Rosemary, Tasha Steelz, Ash and Heather by Elegance
- The finish of the match saw Masha Slamovich hit Tasha Steelz with the Snow Plow to score the pinfall victory for her team.
Winners: Jordynne Grace, Masha Slamovich, and Spitfire
Grade: B
As the team celebrates their win, Tessa Blanchard comes out and attacks Grace from behind. Grace’s teammates stand there looking stupid and don’t help her until the other team finally gets involved and everyone brawls. Blanchard drags Grace out of the building and leaves her lying as TNA iMPACT goes off the air.
TNA iMPACT Review:
This was certainly a mixed bag of a show. We only got three matches which is a rarity for TNA, but they made multiple important matches for Genesis later this month. After two weeks off, I feel there should have been a much stronger effort from the company to regain its momentum heading into the pay-per-view.
Grade: C+
