Ric Flair Says He’s Got One More Match In Him

Ric Flair says he’s got a little more fight left in him.

Flair was on the Five Star Podcast, who asked him about advice he’d give today’s talent. Flair said he actually doesn’t give out advice anymore, noting it’s because the talent doesn’t listen to what he says.

“To be honest with you, I don’t give [advice] anymore, because they’d rather read the internet. [laughs] And I’m telling you, when you start thinking about — not that you shouldn’t respect the fans’ opinion. But when the fans are telling you something, and it’s some kid that’s been in the business for less time than you had… I stopped giving it, they don’t listen to it. They ask me something and walk over, they ask somebody that knows nothing about it. So I used to respect it when they asked me, but if I give an opinion, I’ve got to re-think if they’re gonna take it to heart.”

Ric Flair on one more match

Ric Flair was then asked about his relationship with Tony Khan. The Nature Boy said he’s very close with Khan and called him one of the greatest human beings he’s ever met. Flair also joked about Khan’s wealth and said the AEW owner stopped him from getting in the ring once he learned Flair was on blood thinners, which seemingly put an end to his on-air run in AEW.

“Once Tony found out I was on blood thinners, he wouldn’t let me get in the ring,” Ric Flair said with a laugh.

One of the hosts said Flair had another match in him, to which Flair replied, “Hell yeah, I do!”

Ric Flair’s Last Match (the event, and his actual last match to date) took place in Nashville in 2022. Since then, he says he learned he had a heart attack during that match, a tag team bout that saw him team with Andrade against Jeff Jarrett and Ric Flair.

During the interview, Flair said he would not be in Charlotte for AEW Collision on January 4. However, he said “our company” will, indicating that he’s still under contract with the promotion.

Dwight Howard did listen to the advice Ric Flair gave him

During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Dwight Howard was asked about getting into wrestling, and he noted that Ric Flair talked him out of it. The eight-time NBA All-Star appeared at the WWE tryouts at SummerSlam 2022 and cut a buzzworthy promo. Triple H later said that the ball was in Howard’s court regarding a future in wrestling. However, Flair’s advice effectively talked Howard out of competing.

“I was talking to Ric Flair,” Howard said. “He said I don’t know if my knees [are] good for wrestling. My knees feel good, it’s just wrestling. You’re talking about picking up 300-pound dudes and all that stuff. Nobody wants to do that for their whole life.”
