Santino Marella wants to appear alongside his daughter in the Royal Rumble this year.
The former WWE Superstar last wrestled full-time in the WWE in 2014, retiring due to injuries. He was released in 2016 after over a decade in the WWE. However, he continued wrestling the occasional match and is now the sheriff of TNA.
He made an appearance in the Royal Rumble match in 2020. However, this was as his sister, Santina Marella, who entered the women’s version of the match.
Santino Marella appeared on the No-Name Wrestling Podcast where he was asked about a potential Royal Rumble return this year.
The WWE legend noted that he hasn’t been asked to appear in this year’s event. However, he did pitch for himself and Arianna Grace to appear together in the match. This would be the first time a father and daughter duo appeared in the Royal Rumble together.
“Well, they haven’t called yet. I did, um… So my daughter, she, uh, she had a little shoulder surgery. She’s back in the ring from it, but she hasn’t like re-debuted yet.
So I was pitching—I’m like, I don’t think it’s ever been done, father and daughter in the same Rumble. It’d be really good for her to return to the programming, and, you know, I’m down to show up and just… yeah, just get that experience.
Royal Rumbles are—Royal Rumble is my favorite pay-per-view of the year. It’s like every, whatever, two or three minutes, it’s like opening a present on Christmas morning. You know, who’s it gonna be? What’s it gonna be? That’s my favorite.”
