AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with a new theme song “I’m So Excited” by the Pointer Sisters.

We hear from Jon Moxley alongside the Death Riders as well as Rated FTR hyping tonight’s main event.

Orange Cassidy vs. Hangman Page

  • The finish of the match saw Hangman Page hit Orange Cassidy with the Buckshot Lariat to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Hangman Page

After the match, Page continues to attack Cassidy and hits him with multiple Deadeyes. Christopher Daniels tries to come out and reason with Page, but Hangman attacks him as well.

Grade: A-

A damn good match to kick off Dynamite tonight. Hangman and Orange had a great match and showcased the new lighting and camera presentation for the show. Page’s storyline continues to get more intriguing and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

Jay White is confident he’ll get back on track in 2025

Jay White is backstage and is hyping up tonight’s three-way. If White wins, he’ll get the number one entrant spot in next week’s Casino Gauntlet match. White is certain he’ll be the one to challenge Jon Moxley at the Dynamite Maximum Carnage special on January 15.

The Acclaimed vs. The Hurt Syndicate (w/ MVP)

  • Max Caster blind tagged himself in midway through the match and an angry Anthony Bowens watched the rest of the match from the aisle. The finish of the match saw Bobby Lashley put Max Caster in the Hurt Lock to win the match via submission.

Winners: The Hurt Syndicate

After the match, Bowens called Caster a selfish asshole and walks out on Caster and leaves.

Grade: B+

This was a great showcase for not only The Hurt Syndicate but Anthony Bowens as well. It seems The Acclaimed is finally done and I couldn’t be happier about it. Put a spotlight on Bowens and I truthfully don’t care what you do with Caster.

Will Swerve Strickland get back on track tonight on AEW Dynamite?

Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana are backstage. Swerve apologizes for not being focused the last few weeks but promises to get back on track tonight in the 3-way to earn the number one entrant spot in next week’s Casino Gauntlet match.

Jamie Hayter vs. Julia Hart

  • The finish of the match saw Julia Hart use the black mist on Jamie Hayter with the referee’s back turned to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Julia Hart

Grade: B

This was a good return match for Julia Hart. The House of Black’s mist hasn’t been utilized in quite some time. It will be interesting to see what it does to Hayter if anything at all.

A video package plays recapping the rivalry of Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher.

It’s announced that Kenny Omega will return to AEW Dynamite next week.

Mercedes Moné comes to the ring to celebrate her victory over Kris Statlander at AEW Worlds End. She plays a video package showcasing her 2024 in All Elite Wrestling. Moné hypes her match this weekend against Mina Shirakawa at Wrestle Dynasty.

Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly are backstage. O’Reilly is sporting an Undisputed Kingdom t-shirt. Cole promises that 2025 will be their year. Cole and O’Reilly wish Strong luck in his upcoming 3-way match which is coming up next.

Roderick Strong vs. Jay White vs. Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana)

  • Ricochet interfered with the match and stabbed Swerve Strickland in the face with a pair of scissors. The finish of the match saw Jay White hit Roderick Strong with the Bladerunner to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Jay White

After the match, Ricochet stalks a bloody Swerve Strickland. Prince Nana tries to intervene and Ricochet threatens him with the scissors. Ricochet stabs Strickland in the head with the scissors again and then pummels him before tossing him into the ring. Ricochet attacks Prince Nana with a steel chair before getting into the ring and sits Strickland in the chair before hitting him with the Spirit Gun. The rest of Undisputed Kingdom hit the ring and sent Ricochet running to ringside.

Grade: A-

The full-blown heel turn of Ricochet is complete. This was a dark attack on Strickland and they certainly detoured his path back to the AEW Championship here. It was a nice win for Jay White however as he rebounds from the loss at Worlds End.

What’s next for Jeff Jarrett…?

Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh are backstage talking to Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett says it’s going to be a big night for him but he wants to know where his wife Karen is. Karen comes in and says whatever he wants, she wants. Jeff and Karen hug before handing him his boots and he walks away teasing a retirement tonight.

Mariah May is backstage and says she thinks the AEW Women’s Division is great. May says she’s had more matches than any other women in AEW last year and she made it look easy. May says it’s time for the greatest women’s division to prove themselves to her.

Jeff Jarrett comes to the ring and teases that he’s going to retire. Jarrett quickly runs down his life, his career, and everything he’s done. Jarrett mentions TNA without naming them specifically. Jeff pulls out the swerve and says he’s not retiring. Jarrett announces he’s re-signed with AEW and it’s the last wrestling contract he’ll ever sign. Jarrett says he wants to become the AEW World Champion.

We hear from HOOK who announces he’s still coming after Christian Cage. That match is officially announced for the Maximum Carnage special on January 15.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Rob Killjoy and Jon Cruz

  • The finish of the match saw Powerhouse Hobbs hit spinebusters on both men and pins them both for the victory.

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs

Grade: N/A

I don’t grade squash matches, but this was a fun one.

A new match announced for AEW Collision

Big Bill and Bryan Keith are backstage. Bill says Chris Jericho didn’t want to come to Ashville. They confront Rated FTR and run them down. Copeland challenges The Learning Tree to a trios match this weekend on Collision.

We hear from MJF following Worlds End on Saturday. MJF makes it clear that he’s coming for Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship.

The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta) (w/ Marina Shafir) vs. Rated FTR

  • Jay White gets involved late in the match and hits Wheeler Yuta with the Bladerunner. The finish of the match saw FTR hit Wheeler Yuta with the Shatter Machine followed by a spear from Adam Copeland to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Rated FTR

Grade: A

Rated FTR celebrate their victory as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

This was a really great episode of AEW Dynamite tonight. You could feel some renewed energy from the company entering 2025 and they put their best foot forward with their debut on MAX.

The Casino Gauntlet match has a lot of intrigue going into next week building into the AEW World Title match the week after that. This feels like a new start for the company and it should be exciting to see what 2025 will bring.

Grade: A-
