R-Truth is all for reinvention.
Since 2008, Ron Killings has entertained the WWE Universe through his comedic character known as R-Truth. Over the last year alone, Truth has elicited laughs for his attempts at infiltrating The Judgment Day, confusing DIY and D-Generation X, and most recently, antagonizing Pete Dunne, formerly known as Butch, on WWE Raw. During a recent interview with Insight With Chris Van Vliet, R-Truth opened up about how’s been able to keep himself and his material fresh.
“You have to reinvent yourself all the time,” Truth said. “You have to evolve. You have to stay up with the times. You won’t age out if you keep coming up [with new material]. It’s like you’re as good as good as your last match, that saying. You have to always just evolve. You have to resurface. You have to reinvent yourself. Everything changes.
“I was around when they didn’t have telephones, not when they had pictures, but when they had pagers and stuff. I heard they had pictures. I don’t know about that, but when they had that ‘You got mail! AOL.’ So you just evolve. You gotta evolve with everything, musically, theatrically, with a visual too. Everything evolves.”
In 2024, Truth reigned as the WWE World Tag Team Champions alongside The Miz. Unfortunately, the two lost the titles to the Judgement Day, with The Miz later turning on Truth all together.
