Private Party’s Zay Pranked His Family Before Title Win, Told Them They Were Breaking Up

Matt Jackson revealed that Zay ribbed his whole family before winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

At the end of October, The Young Bucks defended the AEW Tag Team titles against Private Party. Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson put their belts on the line, while Zay and Quinn said that if they lost, they’d split up as a team forever.

Luckily, the latter duo picked up the win and the titles. However, Zay’s family was ready to see the duo split up following the encounter.

The Young Bucks spoke with the Tunnel Talk podcast recently, revealing how emotional they were after dropping the titles to Private Party. Matt Jackson explained how Zay told his entire family that Private Party were breaking up after the match. That made them even more shocked when the duo picked up the win and their first title belts in AEW in the past five years.

“We were all in the back. So emotional,” Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks said. “It was fun because Zay had a dozen family members coming for that show. He flew them all in. He told them ‘Hey, I wanted you guys to be here because this is it. Me and Quinn are splitting’. He ribbed his whole family!”

“When they beat us, they were shocked. They were like ‘what?! How could you do that to us Zay?!’ We just thought it was hysterical.”

Young Bucks: Creative Changed Multiple Times Before We Dropped AEW Tag Titles

The Young Bucks say that they were supposed to drop the AEW World Tag Team Championships months before they lost the titles to Private Party.

Speaking on Tunnel Talk, Matt Jackson notes that they like to plan creative somewhat far in advance. Nick then revealed that the plans changed multiple times in their recent title run before they dropped the gold.

“It’s interesting, though,” Nick Jackson said. “For instance, with this last run we just had, we were supposed to drop those titles months and months before we actually dropped them. But creative changed, I would say four to five different times in the last six months. At one point, we were gonna lose the belts to a certain team, and then a month later, it changed to another team, and then I remember Private Party came up to us, actually, and they mentioned about wanting to do a long-term program with us, and we were like, sorry man, Tony just gave us the layout of what we’re doing, and that’s not in the cards.”
