WWE Raw Results:

As the show kicks off, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston walk out on the ramp and get booed out of the building.

New Day Sucks!

Kingston and Woods both get in the ring. Kingston says if they don’t let them speak… but before Kingston can finish, Jey Uso’s music hits. Woods tries to tell Jey to talk to the people since they go so far back. Jey states he only has one thing to say: New Day sucks. Woods and Kingston walk away. Jey starts to speak, but Solo Sikoa appears on the ‘Tron. Sikoa gloats about dropping Sami Zayn last week.

Sikoa tells Jey he made a mistake going back to Roman Reigns. He’s going to destroy Reigns in the tribal combat match. Then, everyone will acknowledge him. Before Jey can retort, Drew McIntyre attacks him from behind. Referees and officials rush to ringside. McIntyre starts to leave, but he ends up running back to the ring and knocking Jey out with a Claymore.

Grade: B

Good opening segment. It’s great that things don’t happen in a vacuum anymore, and stories have started to interconnect.

Chad Gable vs. Otis

Otis takes control early. After a Creeds attacks Tozawa, Otis makes the save. Back in the ring, Gable traps Otis in an ankle lock. Otis escapes. Otis beats up both Creed Brothers. After a distraction from Ivy Nile, Gable locks Otis in the Ankle Lock again. Otis eventually taps out.

Winner- Chad Gable

Grade: C+

Decent TV match. This was all ok but it just should have happened months ago. This feud isn’t anywhere near as hot as it was when the Alpha Academy first split. Gable needed a win, but what does it all mean at this point?

R-Truth vs. Pete Dunne

As R-Truth makes his entrance, Dunne attacks him from behind. Referees and officials break it up.

No Contest

Grade: C+

This non-finish makes sense to this writer, but that doesn’t mean it’s good television.

Women’s IC Title Tournament Semifinals: Dakota Kai vs. Zoey Stark

Kai starts off off, the fight spills out onto the apron. Stark tries to German suplex. Kai escapes and tries a running boot. Stark counters with a springboard dropkick. After the break, Kai fires up. Kai lands the Kairopractor. Stark kicks out. Stark responds with a suplex and a knee to the face. Kai kicks out. Stark’s attack gets turned into a sit-out powerbomb by Kai. Stark surprises Kai with a basement superkick. Kai kicks out. Stark tries a dive and eats a superkick. Kai hits the GTK for the win.

Winner- Dakota Kai

Grade: B

Good match. Stark and Kai had the crowd eating out of their hands with each near fall. Either winning would have been fine, but considering Kai’s history, she may be the story in the tournament that we all ignored.

Damian Priest & The War Raiders vs. Judgment Day

Priest tosses Bálor all over the ring. Bálor tags in McDonagh, who gets destroyed by Erik. Erik body slams each member of The Judgement Day. After the break, Bálor, McDonagh, and Dominik are working over Erik. Erik manages to tag in Ivar. Ivar clears the ring. Priest tags in. Dominik hits the ropes and runs right into a South of Heaven chokeslam from Priest. Priest pins Dominik.

Winners- Damian Priest & The War Raiders

As Pries is celebrating, Bálor chop blocks him. Carlito holds Priest’s leg while Bálor stomps it. The War Raider makes the save.

Backstage, Raw GM Adma Pearce tells Jey Uso he can have McIntyre next week on the Netflix premiere of Monday Night Raw.

Ludwig Kaiser Speaks

Kaiser says he demands our gratitude. Kaiser says he belongs at the top of the food chain and demands IC Champion Bron Breakker come to the ring right now. Sheamus appears on the stage instead. Sheamus runs down to the ring and attacks Kaiser.

Women’s IC Title Tournament Semifinals: IYO SKY vs. Lyra Valkyria

SKY and Valkyria trade quick pin attempts and strikes. Neither woman can get the advantage. After the break, SKY lands her patented springboard dropkick. Valkyria cuts SKY off as she goes up top. Valkyria sets up a Nightwing off the top. SKY escapes. Valkyria drop kicks SKY into the corner. Tornado DDT by Valkyria. Sky kicks out. Sky manages a victory roll off the top. Valkyria kicks out. Valkyria reverses SKY’s pin into a sloppy pin for the win.

Winner- Lyra Valkyria

Grade: B

Gee, who didn’t see Lyra Valkyria winning coming? It looks like Valkyria is winning this tournament- the “I’m close to a top star” effect is clearly still lingering, even with Becky Lynch being off TV. Look, Valkyria is fine, but she is as interesting as a jar of mayonnaise. Something needs to change with her; otherwise, she would be better suited to work on the wrestling show that airs on Wednesday nights.

Rollins and Punk Face-to-face

Rollins says on the last Raw on USA Network they should go out with a bang. Rollins says that after he beats CM Punk, we will all know where he will be. In this ring, every Monday night, fighting. If Punk loses, you can’t say the same for Punk. Maybe Punk will pick up his ball and go home again. CM Punk’s music hit. Punk lays into Rollins for saying he took his ball and went home. Punk asks which paragon of virtue told him that line.

Did Stone Cold Steve Austin take his ball and go home? Did The Man Becky Lynch take her ball and go home? Punk says Rollins isn’t upset because Punk abandoned WWE, he’s upset because Punk abandoned Rollins. Punk doesn’t want to talk about the last 10 years; let’s talk about the last 10 months. Punk asks how Rollins’ neck and ribs are doing after getting destroyed for weeks on end. Rollins laughs as Punk says after next week, he’s going to turn Rollins into the martyr he so desperately wants to be.

Rollins dumps on Punk for wishing death on WWE. Rollins says Punk can’t big brother him anymore because he’s the big brother. Punk say Rollins says he loved the place he worked 10 year ago, he just hated the guy running it. And guess what? That guy loved Rollins. And what happened once Punk was gone? Rollins stabbed Reign in the back, and now he’s here dressed like an idiot.

Punk is walking into Netflix carrying all the arrows he pulled out of his back, and he’s going to jam them down Rollins’ corporate throat. Rollins says at one point, Punk was a pioneer, but now he’s a cancer. Cancer doesn’t cure itself; the only way to defeat it is to cut it out. Rollins wants Punk to bring his arrows. He’ll bring his eyes of fire and his heart full of hate. Rollins promises to burn Punk to the ground.

Grade: A+

Hell of a promo from both men. This works on many levels, but the real history between both men sells this angle to the moon. The best part? We have no idea who is going to win. That doubt, coupled with the firey promos and brawls leading up to their clash on the Raw Netflix, this writer hasn’t been this excited for a match… since… well, all of the Punk and McIntyre matches. Punk is on fire right now…

WWE Raw Review:

Good show overall. There was solid in-ring action, but the standouts tonight were the opening and closing promo segments. The New Day are the biggest bad guys in WWE, with heat surpassing Dominik Mysterio. The close of the show featured a masterclass in mic work with Rollins and Punk. We have been in a holding pattern during the lead-up to the Raw on Netflix debut, but tonight’s show was leaps and bounds better than the last few weeks.
