The New Day turned their backs on Big E. They got kicked out of the RAW locker room, and Kofi Kingston’s mom even disowned him when WWE was in Boston.
Most people would think they deserved coal for Christmas. They turned the tables on a fan at a WWE live event and gifted him coal instead.
WWE was in Chicago on Sunday night for another live event on the company’s holiday tour. The New Day got mad at the production team for playing their old music on the way to the ring, where they gave one “lucky” fan a late Christmas gift wrapped in a Barebells protein bar box.
Kofi and Woods stood and eagerly watched as he tore into the box, which was filled with lumps of coal. The pair tried to pass more out, but the fans weren’t having it. The recipient threw his coal on the ground, which resulted in Kofi calling them all ungrateful as he headed to the ring.
They say it’s the thought that counts, but Chicago might disagree on this one.
Kofi Kingston beat Otis in a singles match on the show, which also featured CM Punk versus Gunther in the main event. Dominik Mysterio ran in during that match and tried to have New Day assist, but the trio was beaten up by the unlikely team of Otis, LA Knight and Punk.
CM Punk later commented on his first match at the Allstate Arena in a decade and took time to call Dominik Mysterio a “greasy twat.”
The New Day says Big E did too little, too late
Kofi Kingston commented on turning on Big E while speaking with Tim Battle and Eli on the Battleground Podcast. Kingston said Big E, who has been out recovering from a broken neck, could have put in more effort.
“To me, when Big E showed up last week, it was too little, too late,” Kofi Kingston said. “If everybody saw what was happening, why didn’t he try to intervene a little bit earlier? It’s not like he hasn’t been at work. He’s been on those premium live events, the pre-shows, been on those. He could have very easily came to us at any point during this deterioration, and he chose to wait all this time. It was just too little, too late.
“So it is what it is. I’m excited for what comes next. I think me and Woods are more focused than ever right now. There’s a new level of new energy that we’re feeling, and we’re gonna take the WWE Universe by storm.”
