Michael Oku Reflects On Chris Jericho’s Influence On His Career

Michael Oku says he appreciates Chris Jericho.

RevPro star Michael Oku previously faced Jericho in a ten-man tag team match at PWG Battle of Los Angeles 2023. He also appeared on Jericho’s podcast.

Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, Michael Oku was asked to comment on how important Chris Jericho has been to his career.

“It’s weird because if you want to talk about my influences, anyone that knows me, it’s Chris Jericho and it’s The Rock. Those are my two guys that influenced me to be the pro wrestler I am today. So for me to develop a relationship with Chris personally and him to be a fan of my stuff, it’s really cool. I can always count on him as someone to just bounce ideas on or ask for advice from. He’s very open like that. So I always really appreciate Chris.”

Michael Oku On His AEW Match

Oku was also asked to look back on competing in a dark match at AEW’s Dynamite taping in Cardiff in August.

I think [the pop] was the coolest part about it. I think moments where you get an opportunity like, ‘You’re going to wrestle for All Elite Wrestling,’ it doesn’t mean as much if other people don’t care, if the fans don’t care. So the fact that the fans cared and gave me such a large reception is what made that moment an unbeatable experience. It’s something that I still think about. It was amazing.”
