It’s contract season in NJPW, and a current champion’s deal is set to expire soon, according to a new report.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Kevin Knight‘s contract is set to expire in the next few days. Knight is one-half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions with KUSHIDA. They are set to defend the titles at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4. Sapp cites sources who say that NJPW is interested in keeping Knight, and negotiations will start soon. Per Sapp, Knight’s name has been “brought up” in major American wrestling promotions recently, and he had interest outside of NJPW and TNA.
Knight has competed on TNA programming in 2024, and he has also wrestled for MLW. He has competed for independent promotions throughout the United States as well. Knight also wrestled at an ROH taping in November.
Knight and KUSHIDA won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship at NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling in October. There, they defeated Drilla Moloney and Clark Connors.
