Ladder Match For WWE Title Set For WWE Royal Rumble

The Undisputed WWE Championship will be defended at WWE Royal Rumble.

At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes beat Kevin Owens to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. After the match, Owens attacked Rhodes and walked away with the Winged Eagle Title that Rhodes wore to the ring. Since then, Owens has carried the title and called himself the rightful, true champion.

On the December 27 episode of WWE SmackDown, Nick Aldis ordered Owens to hand the title over. Owens said that he would not give it back unless he got a rematch for the title. Rhodes then came to the ring, making his first appearance since WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. He issued the challenge for a ladder match where both titles would be suspended above the ring. Aldis confirmed the match for WWE Royal Rumble. Owens took a cheap shot and attacked Rhodes. He then claimed again that he was the true champion.
