Nick Aldis Gives Kevin Owens An Ultimatum On WWE SmackDown

Nick Aldis issued an ultimatum to Kevin Owens on WWE SmackDown.

On the December 27 episode of WWE SmackDown, Aldis addressed Kevin Owens’ actions since WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. He has taken the Winged Eagle Title and called himself the true WWE Champion, though Rhodes beat him in their title match. Owens seemingly took Rhodes out after their match with a piledriver. WWE subsequently announced that Rhodes was sidelined due to injuries he sustained in the attack.

Aldis said that Owens was not the champion, but he had the Winged Eagle Title. He stated that Owens had no claim to the title, so he had until the end of the night to relinquish the championship. If not, he would face severe consequences that would impact his future in WWE.

Update: Owens responded to Aldis later in the show. He claimed that he deserved to have the title, and he said that he would meet Aldis alone in the ring to discuss the matter. At the end of the show, Owens refused to give up the title without getting a rematch against Rhodes. Aldis said that if Owens didn’t hand the title over, he would never step foot in a WWE ring again.

Cody Rhodes Returns On WWE SmackDown

Cody Rhodes then made his return on WWE SmackDown. He said that he didn’t want Aldis to make Owens a martyr. Rhodes said that he did this for his family, his friends, and all the people who believed in him. He stated that it was his responsibility to take the title back.

Rhodes told Owens that he wanted a rematch as well. He challenged Owens to face him in a Ladder Match for both titles. Aldis confirmed the match for WWE Royal Rumble. Owens then shoved Aldis into Owens and stomped Rhodes’ neck before officials intervened.

As Aldis noted, Owens has repeatedly claimed that he is the true WWE Champion in recent weeks. He appeared at the WWE RAW on Netflix event, and he was carrying the Winged Eagle Title.

Triple H previously presented Rhodes with the Winged Eagle Title as a gift ahead of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
