IYO SKY Replaces Kairi Sane, Advances In WWE Women’s IC Title Tournament

IYO SKY advanced to the next round on WWE RAW.

The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament continued on the December 23 episode of WWE RAW. Kairi Sane was set to face Natalya and Alba Fyre in a first-round match. However, WWE announced that Sane was not cleared to compete after Pure Fusion Collective attacked her backstage on the December 16 episode of WWE RAW. IYO SKY then took her place.

IYO SKY ultimately emerged victorious, as she hit the Over The Moonsault for the win. In doing so, she punched her ticket to the next round.

Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:

Natalya breaks it up and traps both women in the Sharpshooter at the same time. Fyre and SKY eventually break the hold. SKY takes out both Fyre and Natalya with an Asai moonsault. SKY goes up top. Fyre tries to break it up with a German suplex off the top. SKY puts on the breaks. Natalya German suplexes Fyre off the second rope. SKY surprises Natalya with the Over the Moonsault for the win!

IYO SKY will face Lyra Valkyria in the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, Dakota Kai will face Zoey Stark. The winners will clash in the finals. WWE has yet to announce when the tournament finals will be held.

As for Kairi Sane, there is no word on how long she will be out of action. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
