Could we see Nic Nemeth in another Royal Rumble?
In January 2024, Jordynne Grace emerged as the second TNA representative to enter a WWE Royal Rumble match, behind only Mickie James back in 2022. With TNA and WWE, specifically the NXT brand, later strengthening their partnership throughout 2024, many fans have raised interest in seeing more TNA talents appear at the upcoming Royal Rumble premium live event, which takes place on February 1.
During a recent interview with Daily Star, TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth (formerly Dolph Ziggler in WWE) addressed the possibility of him competing in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match.
“… When it comes to NXT, first of all, I’ve been there done that. I’ve been the NXT champion, but also, I left WWE on purpose, not to go right back. Also we have so many young up-and-comers, guys and gals, I’m like put them in that place, which they were doing already, but I want to focus on those guys and gals getting a few more eyes on them,” Nemeth said.
“A rumble spot, dude that’s so cool. WWE’s killing it right now. To do something fun and wear my old trunks, get the old music to play, come out there, and kick somebody in the face, that would be awesome. It would just be something to have a viral moment so I could talk about TNA, so that’s the only reason I would want to do it. It’d be cool see some old friends, but most importantly, I left on purpose, not because I hated that place, they’re killing it, [but] I love TNA and I love what I’m doing. I just don’t want to be anywhere else.”
What Music Would Nemeth Arrive To?
When contemplating the option of him entering the Royal Rumble as his current self or his former persona of Dolph Ziggler, Nemeth brought up a unique idea.
“Let’s think now, which music would be better to make everyone go ‘Oh!’ I don’t know. As much as I’d want to hear my new music, I think we would play the old stuff and then maybe the new one on the way out or something,” Nemeth said.
In her 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble appearance, Mickie James, a former WWE Women’s Champion, notably emerged to the tune of “Hardcore Country” rather than her “Obsession” theme she previously used in WWE. In his case, Nemeth currently walks to the tune of “Wanted Man,” whereas in WWE he arrived to “Here To Show The World.” Downstait recorded both songs.
Should Nemeth join the Royal Rumble, he could tie Kofi Kingston for the second most WWE Royal Rumble appearances of all-time. Currently, Nemeth is tied for the third most, at 15, alongside Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, and The Miz.
