A talent who had been sidelined returned at the AEW Dynamite tapings at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
According to fans in attendance, Taz returned at the AEW Dynamite on 34th Street tapings on December 22. Tony Khan introduced Taz to the crowd, and he got a big pop.
Taz had been sidelined since October, as he underwent knee replacement surgery. He was written off of television ahead of the October 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, as AEW announced that he was attacked in the parking lot. His son, HOOK, then sought vengeance and started feuding with The Patriarchy, who were revealed as Taz’s attackers.
HOOK also competed at the Hammerstein Ballroom tapings, as he faced Nick Wayne.
Taz On Getting Surgery
Taz previously commented on getting surgery. During an appearance on The Infamous Smoke Show, he explained why he decided to get the procedure. He also discussed his recovery. (H/t Fightful)
“I tried everything…I’m 57, right, so I wanted to wait until I was 65 to get the replacement,” Taz said. “I just could wait. It was just brutal. I couldn’t go to work, I couldn’t walk in an arena backstage. I couldn’t walk in airports. You go to make a connection flight, and I got too much pride to get wheeled around. I’m just not gonna do that. Yeah, whatever. I got my own f—–g issues, right?”
“The knee replacement thing, I’m recovering. I’m doing a lot of physical therapy now, three days a week. I do a lot of home therapy too,” Taz said. “You gotta really work out that prosthetic and the quad and all that. I was always nervous to get it done. But I’m only five weeks out, and if you need it, get it done because I already feel relief. The arthritis is gone. It’s nice.”
Before the surgery, Taz had been a regular member of the AEW Dynamite commentary team.
