One of the most iconic arenas is the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. It is also known as the ECW Arena as that was the home of ECW. Recently WWE NXT took place at the arena. A couple of the surprises that showed up for the event were the Full Blooded Italians’ Nunzio and his manager Tony Mamaluke.
While speaking at a Virtual Signing, Tony Mamaluke shared that NXT wanted him to wrestle but he hadn’t wrestled in seven years.
“I was at work and (Little) Guido called me and said, ‘They’re gonna call you from Stamford, Connecticut’ and I said, ‘Well, I don’t owe them any money and I don’t need the drug program. What do they want?’ He said, ‘They’re gonna put us on NXT in a couple of weeks.’ I said, ‘NXT? National television?’ ‘Yeah. They want you to wrestle.’ I didn’t wrestle in seven years.” [H/T POST Wrestling]
Tony Mamaluke brought his ring gear
Mamaluke also mentioned that he had brought his gear as NXT was going to the ECW Arena.
“Well, I did bring my gear. So it just was all because they were going to the ECW Arena. They wanted to bring in some of the big stars. Since they couldn’t show up, they decided to call me (he laughed).”
Mamaluke also shared that NXT called him twice and that they really wanted Nunzio and Mamaluke to make an appearance on the show.
“They did call twice. So I guess they really wanted us. No, it was a great time. We got to meet some really great, young talent. The Family was great too. I keep using that word ‘great’ but everything was such an amazing day… By the way, Shawn Michaels, for anyone that’s wondering, he’s doing great (he laughed),” Mamaluke said.
