The Don Callis Family Faces Off With Hobbs And Davis
The Don Callis Family vs. Mark Davis & Powerhouse Hobbs
This one goes to the Family, as Takeshita and Cage started off hot. Takeshita hit a Blue Thunder Bomb on Davis to open, and that kind of set the tone for how things would go. Later on in the match, Cage hit a big German suplex on Hobbs and then a pumphandle slam for a near fall. After Hobbs and Cage took a brawl to outside of the ring, Takeshita took advantage and hit the Raging Fire on Davis for the win.
Winner – The Don Callis Family
Grade – B
This one wasn’t as good as the Family’s recent appearances, but was still a great opener. Was fun to see Takeshita and Hobbs briefly go at it as they ramp up to their big match, as well.
Lio Rush & Action Andretti Dominate
Lio Rush & Action Andretti vs. Goldy & Miles Hawkins
This one is over…pretty much immediately. Rush and Andretti hit a few big moves and scored an easy win. After the match, Private Party came out along with Top Flight. Rush and Andretti used Top Flight’s entrance to attack a distracted Private Party, and then ran off after taunting them.
Winner – Lio Rush & Action Andretti
Grade – C
This was a whole lot of nothing for just a quick brawl at the end, sadly. Still fun to see Rush and Andreeti, though.
Willow Nightingale Goes To Work
Willow Nightingale vs. Harley Cameron
This is another shockingly quick one. Cameron gets an almost instant win by hitting a Shining Wizard, but Nightingale fought back to regain momentum. She ended things by hitting a death valley drive and then a Doctor Bomb for the win.
After the match, Penelope Ford — who had spoken backstage with Cameron prior to the match — attacked Nightingale, with Cameron joining in to ambush the superstar. Kris Statlander eventually came down and chased off the heels, and the fans were trying to convince Kris and Willow to hug, but Statlander left instead.
Winner – Willow Nightingale
Grade – C+
Not sure what’s up with some of these fast finishes, but this was another surprising one. Nightingale remains as dominant as ever, though, and it’ll be fun to see her keep getting better and bigger opportunities.
A Continental Classic Match To End The Night
Brody King vs. Komander
The final match of the night was an all-out brawl, as King and Komander both were fighting hard for three crucial points in the Continental Classic Gold League. Although Komander was already eliminated from advancing in the tournament, he was trying to play spoiler here, and landed some big hits on King throughout the match.
Unfortunately for Komander, it wasn’t meant to be. King would kick out of a pin after a 450 splash, and then after being sent out of the ring and hit with a moonsault, he would get back into the ring just as the referee nearly counted to 10. Komander then hit a rope walk shooting star and tried for another splash, but King had seen enough, and caught him in mid-air to hit a big slam for the win and the three points.
Winner – Brody King
Grade – B
This was a great way to end the night, and seeing Komander fight despite being eliminated was awesome. King picked up crucial points, though, and will need to keep up the winning ways.
AEW Rampage Review
Grade – C+
Overall, this was a solid show, but had way too much fluff and squash matches in it to really walk away super entertained. Obviously, with this being a show right before the holidays, it was good enough, though. Enjoy the holidays, folks!
