Report: WWE Has Discussed Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk For WrestleMania 41

A major WrestleMania match has been heavily discussed, according to a new report.

After a brief absence, CM Punk returned to WWE programming in November, as he was revealed as the fifth member of the OG Bloodline’s team at WWE Survivor Series. Punk then said that Paul Heyman owed him a favor for agreeing to team up with the group. Roman Reigns and Punk struggled to coexist, but the team ultimately emerged victorious. Punk and Reigns working together led many fans to buzz about a potential match between the two.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that a match between CM Punk and Roman Reigns has been “heavily discussed” for WWE WrestleMania 41, per company sources. Sapp writes that this hadn’t specifically been the plan a few weeks ago, but things had been adjusted. Sources also said that Punk had hoped for the match.

Sapp previously reported in 2023 that, ahead of CM Punk’s return to WWE, Roman Reigns was not keen on him coming back.

More Details

The report notes that the match between CM Punk and Roman Reigns is a “drastically different direction” than what had been planned for the two stars, even as of a couple of months ago. Sapp cites sources who noted that if The Rock informs WWE of his involvement in WrestleMania 41, much of the card could change. Recent reports noted that WWE was planning for WWE WrestleMania 41 as if The Rock would not be involved.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
