John Cena Reacts To James Gunn’s Superman Trailer

John Cena believes the DCU is in good hands under James Gunn’s direction.

Gunn, CEO of DC Studios and director of the new Superman film, released the trailer for his upcoming project on Thursday morning. The reception has been overwhelming so far, if not a bit polarizing. Many fans appreciate Gunn bringing the character closer to his comic book counterpart, while others still champion Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel as their definitive pick for what Superman should be.

One of the most prominent voices to champion Gunn’s efforts is John Cena, who worked with Gunn on two seasons of HBO / Max’s Peacemaker series and 2021’s Suicide Squad film. Cena shared the Superman trailer on Twitter, praising the director’s passion, respect and creativity on the new film.

“Honored to call @JamesGunn a friend,” Cena wrote. “His passion and respect for art and entertainment are equally matched with his creativity and courage to forge ahead the legacy of such an iconic story and character.”

Superman opens in theatres on July 11, 2025. Season two of Peacemaker will have a total of eight episodes, and it premieres on Max in August 2025.

Logan Paul shares advice from John Cena

Logan Paul shared some advice that he got from John Cena during a recent episode of his IMPAULSIVE podcast. Paul said he didn’t initially understand it, but it does make sense.

“John Cena told me as well, randomly, I shot him a text about something, he told me this. ‘Comparison is the thief of joy.’ But I’ve never really understood it, and I still don’t think I fully understand it, but it makes sense to me.

“I’m realizing something about myself, and that’s, I do compare myself to people in the sense that I’m competitive and I use it as fuel to motivate me to do better. Which has always worked for me, but I’m also wondering if it is the thief of joy. While I am reaching these pinnacles, am I happy doing it? Am I doing it because I found that motivation inside me, or did it come from an external source? Also, does it matter? I don’t know.”
