Athena is excited to make history once again.
At Ring of Honor Final Battle, “The Forever Champ” Athena will defend her ROH Women’s World Championship in what the promotion is advertising as a “double main event.” According to Fightful Select, Athena and her challenger Billie Starkz are planned to close the event, which emanates from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Athena herself reiterated this during a new interview with Denise Salcedo.
“We will be the first women to main event in Hammerstein as far as I know, as far as Ring of Honor goes, anyway,” Athena said. “So that could be a really cool moment, another history on the belt there.
“To my knowledge, and I’m speaking specifically with Ring of Honor, no woman has main-evented that venue,” Athena continued. “As far as I know of, I’m the first and only women’s main event within Ring of Honor on a pay-per-view, so it’s really cool to just get another notch on the belt of history making, the inspiration to every division as I like to call myself amongst other things. It’s really cool and nerve-wracking at the same time because we know that we have to deliver. We know that we’re going to go in. I’m going to beat the tar out of her, I’m going to win.”
Athena Teases New Entrance Attire
With ROH Final Battle on the horizon, Athena further noted that she crafted her own entrance attire for the event. As for the specifics of it, though, Athena us keeping it a bit of mystery.
“I know my hair is all crazy different colors and stuff, but it has nothing to do with my entrance. Just know it’s in my realm of nerdom. I think that’s the best way [to explain], and know that my hair has nothing to do with it right now. Honestly, if anyone, once this airs and you can quote me, if anyone figures it out with a blind guess, I will personally get you two tickets to a show.”
