Mariah May doesn’t think she’s been overshadowed by Mercedes Moné in AEW.
Both women are in the middle of impressive title reigns. Mercedes Moné has held the TBS Championship since Double or Nothing 2024, when she beat Willow Nightingale to take home the belt.
Meanwhile, Mariah May took the AEW Women’s Championship from Toni Storm at AEW All In. She has wrestled stars like Mina Shirakawa and Thunder Rosa since then in an impressive reign with the belt so far.
Mariah May spoke about Mercedes Mone while appearing on Niko Exxtra. The AEW Women’s Champion was asked if she was being overshadowed by Mercedes Moné’s TBA title run. While she did admit that Moné has been given more opportunities by AEW, she added that she always performs when given the chance and people always take notice of “the Glamour”.
“I think she’s been given a lot more than me. I’d love to have more time and more opportunities, but I’ve always been underestimated. In one minute, I can make you remember me. In one minute, I can get a million impressions. So that’s fine—stack the deck against me. I always shine.”
Mariah May On Her Relationship With Mercedes Moné
Mariah May was asked about how she gets on with Mercedes Moné. She said that they don’t have one, they don’t share a locker room or see each other at all. The AEW Women’s Champion then claimed she was a better merchandise seller than Mercedes Moné, throwing shade at the TBS Champion.
“I wouldn’t say ‘we’—we don’t share a locker room. I don’t see her at all. She tried to talk smack and say she wants me to be a ‘money shot’ girl, but you know what? I will—because she needs the help.”
“Guess what? I’m a top merch seller; she’s not. We released some Allin plaques from all of our matches. Mine sold out in five minutes, and last time I checked, hers is still sitting there. Clearly, people want to forget about that match, and honestly, I don’t blame them. But hey, keep talking smack. I’m the world champion—you know where to find me.”
