Peter Rosenberg Reacts To Awkward ‘Move Set’ Exchange With CM Punk

Pete Rosenberg reflects on a recent interaction he had with CM Punk.

In a Saturday Night’s Main Event exclusive on YouTube, Peter Rosenberg spoke with CM Punk backstage. The situation turned dicey when he used the word “move set” which the former WWE Champion took umbrage with.

“Don’t say move set. Its garbage. If you say that, you’re an idiot. Especially if you’re a wrestler and you say move set? That 100% tells me you don’t know what the hell you’re doing,” CM Punk said as Rosenberg stumbled over his words trying to apologize.

Speaking on his Hans, Franz and Rosenberg podcast (H/T to Fightful), Peter Rosenberg addressed the confrontation with CM Punk and gave his perspective on the situation. He called CM Punk a “dick” (although somehow lovingly) but acknowledged there is history between the former AEW Champion and the term. Rosenberg added that he thought he and CM Punk were cool, but doubted it after this exchange.

“Then I said, ‘the moveset,’ did you hear the first words out of his mouth? ‘Don’t say moveset.’ Moveset is like insider dumb lingo. It just came out of my mouth because it’s in there. I wouldn’t normally say it, but like, Punk is A, a dick. I say that lovingly. He’s A, a dick. B, it is an annoying thing that I said.

“C, apparently, I’ve learned, there is some history with him and someone else and that word, that I don’t even know about. There, he’s talking about, I don’t know that he’s dissing someone else. In this moment, he is specifically dissing a wrestler. I’m thinking it’s at me. ‘Come on Punk, I thought we were cool.'”

CM Punk has been against the term move set long before Pete Rosenberg brought it up, including on Twitter back in 2021.
