Matt Riddle On WWE Release: I Wouldn’t Change It For The World, You’re Supposed To Have Ups And Downs

Matt Riddle says he wouldn’t have done anything different in his career, despite being fired from the WWE.

The former WWE Tag Team Champion was released by the company in September 2023. Despite having an entertaining, long-term partnership with Randy Orton as RK-Bro, his behind-the-scenes behaviour became too much to handle.

Matt Riddle had multiple suspensions due to failing drug tests. He also spent time in rehab and was fired after a drunken incident at an airport. The UFC fired him earlier in his career for smoking weed, although the former WWE Superstar has zero regrets.

Speaking on Developmentally Speaking (H/T to Fightful), Matt Riddle talked about his releases from the WWE and the UFC.

The former United States Championship claimed that he “wouldn’t change it for the world”, explaining that life is fill of peaks and valleys and his actions are simply a reflection of who he is as a person.

“At the same time, that’s kind of the story of my life. In the UFC, five-fight win streak, beating top-ranked fighters, ranked top ten in the world at welterweight, you smoke weed, you’re fired. WWE, you’re killing it, your partner gets hurt, you’re kind of the guy that gets beat up by The Bloodline all the time or what you have, which is fine.

“But then you go to the airport, you have a couple cocktails and shit goes wrong, people say stuff to you. Whatever. At the end of the day, things happen, I am where I am. People would probably yell at me, but I wouldn’t change it for the world [laughs]. That’s just who I am. You’re supposed to have ups and downs, peaks and valleys,”Matt Riddle said.
