The Undertaker ‘Took Forever’ To Agree To WrestleMania 40 Appearance, Didn’t Want To Dress In Character

The main event of night two of WrestleMania 40 was one of the most talked about matches of 2024. It was the Undisputed Universal Championship Bloodline Rules match between the Champion Roman Reigns and the challenger Cody Rhodes.

Reigns had everyone, including The Rock, helping him try to win the match. Rhodes had a lot of help from friends who The Bloodline had wronged as well as a few legends like John Cena. But one of the biggest surprises of the match was the return of WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker. WWE’s CCO Triple H shared his thoughts on how The Deadman was pulled into the match.

While speaking on the Roommates Show, Triple H shared that it took a lot of people to get The Undertaker to agree to make an appearance. He revealed that The Rock also had to call him to convince him to make an appearance for one last time.

“It took us forever to get him to do that thing. A lot of that stuff comes together in the tail end. When I first called him for it, he’s like, ‘I don’t know. I don’t think I want to do it.’ I’m like, ‘80,000 people are going to go absolutely insane.’ It took us a little bit. Rock had to call him. Everybody had to call him to get him to finally acquiesce to do it. When he retired, he sort of wanted, ‘I’m just done.’ He didn’t come out with the hat and jacket. The hat and jacket are retired. ‘I’ll come out as me, but I’m not coming out as Undertaker.’ He just wanted it to be over,” Triple H said. [H/T Fightful.com]
