WWE NXT Results:

Oba Femi vs. Axiom

Axiom tries to stick and move, landing several strikes and making Femi chase him. Femi swats Axiom like a fly with a chop. After the break, Femi is working over Axiom. Axiom fires up but eventually eats a powerbomb. Femi pins Axiom.

Winner- Oba Femi

Grade: B-

Femi works great with smaller quicker opponents. Axiom is extremely fun to watch…. get beat up by Femi. 🙂

Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson vs. ZARIA & Sol Ruca

Ruca is in control early. Legend and Jackson double team Ruca to take control. Ruca suprirses Legend with a slingshot code breaker. Legend tosses Ruca into her corner and points at ZARIA. ZARIA and Legend trade power move attempts. Legend wins out with a body slam. ZARIA tags Ruca. Legend is sent flying out of the ring. Zaria lifts Jackson on her shoulders.

Ruca steps off the top rope and rides Jackson like a surfboard while ZARIA is still carrying her. Ruca dives off Jackson’s back and lands on Legend outside the ring. ZARIA press slams Jackson onto Legend outside the ring. After the break, Jackson and Legend work over Ruca. Jackson holds ZARIA outside the ring while Legend hits her finish on Ruca for the win.

Winners- Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson

Grade: B-

Fun match and the right team won. This writer is sick of the thrown together tag team that beats the already established team so it was a pleasant surprise that the Meta-Girls went over. Before the IWC get’s it’s undies in a bunch, ZARIA and Ruca will be just fine.

Jaida Parker w/OTM vs. Wren Sinclair w/NQCC

Parker traps Sinclair in the corner and unloads on her with nasty chops. Teardrop hip attack by Parker. Sinclair locks in a full nelson. Parker reverses it and hits a suplex. Sinclair fires up and sends Parker flying with a butterfly suplex. OTM and NQCC brawl outside the ring. Sinclair counters Hipnotiq with a roll up. Parker kicks out. Sinclair reverses a spinebuster into a guillotine choke. Parker tosses Sinclair away and almost decapitated her with a spinning back elbow. Parker lands a devastating Hypnotiq for the win.

Winner- Jaida Parker

Grade: B

This match was way too short, but so much fun. Parker’s charisma literally oozes out of the TV whenever she’s on the show. Has anyone ever made a non-corner hip attack look that vicious? Sinclair is, at this point, the most underrated wrestler in the NXT locker room. There are very few women who has the obvious technical expertise as Sinclair but at some point, Sinclair needs to start winning matches… But not this one.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Nathan Frazer & Axiom (c) vs. Gallus

Axiom is bandaged up and barely moving after his match with Femi earlier. Frazer lands several dives. Axiom tries a dive, but takes out Mark’s brother Joe Coffey at ringside. Wolfgang and Mark take control after Axiom collapses while trying to run the ropes for another dive. Wolfgang pounces Axiom clear across the ring. Mark suplexes Frazer on the ring apron.

After the break, Axiom accidentally blasts Frazer with the Golden Ratio. Axiom counters Wolfgang and Mark’s double team into a Canadian Destroyer on Mark. Frazer sends Wolfgang flying with a poison rana. Avalanche Spanish fly by Axiom. Axiom dives off the top onto Mark and Joe at ringside. Phoenix Splash by Frazer. Frazer pins Wolfgang.

Winners- Nathan Frazer and Axiom

Grade: C+

How much longer are they going to tease the Frazer and Axiom breakup? At this point, you can set your clock to Axiom accidentally kicking Frazer in the face every match. It’s becoming exhausting. Nothing against Gallus, but even with the Fraxiom exhaustion, the idea of another Gallus title run isn’t what anyone wants at this point. For the love of all that is holy, put Gallas with Drew McIntyre already.

In-Ring Segment: Ethan Page

A cress fallen Page talks about winning the big one for his little girl and his son. Now when he looses, they loose. Page says he’s lost his smile. Je’Von Evans interrupts and gives Page a pep talk. Evans tells Page they are all proud of him and he wants to see Page drop the “All Ego” stuff. Be the man Evans knows Page is deep down. Be the real Ethan Page.

Page puts his head down and says its all clear to him now. Instead of worrying about losing his smile, he should focus on taking Evans’. Page decks Evans. Page wraps a chair around Evans neck and stomps it. Evans spits blood all over the ring. Referees, officials, and the medical staff rush the ring to help Evans. Page yells that this is the real him.

Grade: A

Everything about this segment was 100% telegraphed… but guess what? It was still awesome as hell. Page is such an interesting talent. At this point, there doesn’t seem to be much he can’t do. This beef with Evans is going to feed families. Loved the sell with the blood and all. That looked great.

NXT Championship Match: Trick Williams (c) vs. Eddy Thorpe

Williams is all over Thorpe. Thorpe retreats out of the ring. Williams follows and continues putting his boots to Thorpe butt. Williams gets hung up in the ropes after missing a Harlem sidekick. Thorpe boots Williams off the apron. After the break, Thorpe works over Williams. Thorpe hits an implant DDT, but Williams’ feet knock out the referee. Another referee runs down to the ring and makes the count. Williams kicks out. Thorpe charges in and runs right into the Trick Shot. Williams falls on Thorpe. Both referees count at the same time.

Winner- Beats the hell out of me

After the match, both referees argue. NXT GM Ava walks to ringside as both referees plead their case. The show fades to black

Grade: C

Williams will probably main event a WrestleMania at some point, but for the love of all that is holy on Bianca Belair’s internet they need to give him someone who doesn’t have the charisma of a spoiled jar of mayonnaise to work with. Look, Thorpe has had some ok matches, but him being in this position is just off-putting. The finish also doesn’t make a ton of sense since Thorpe’s foot was under the rope, so that would nullify his pin and the pin on him. So what are we even doing here?

WWE NXT Review:

While there were some standout moments, particularly Ethan Page’s segment, much of the show felt uneven. Several matches suffered from repetitive storytelling, which is just flat our boring at this point. The booking choices for NXT Champion Trick Williams are just baffling at this point.Still, the in-ring action was solid, so that means the night wasn’t a total wash. Go out of your way to see the Jaida Parker vs. Wren Sinclair match. It was short, but a fun time nonetheless.
