Matt Riddle Wants To Finish RK-Bro Story, Even If It’s Just Him Getting Punted

Matt Riddle wishes he could have finished the RK-Bro story with Randy Orton before his WWE release.

The former UFC fighter had a successful partnership with Orton between 2021 and 2022. The duo won the tag team championships together, but injuries to Randy Orton cut their run short. By the time Randy Orton returned to the ring, Matt Riddle had been fired from the WWE, making an RK-Bro reunion impossible.

Matt Riddle recently sat down with Developmentally Speaking and was asked about what things he wishes he could have accomplished in the WWE that he didn’t. The former WWE Tag Team Champion claimed that he loved everything he did in the company. However, his only regret was not finishing out the RK-Bro story with Randy Orton, which was curtailed by injury and illness.

“I loved everything I did. I wish I would have been able to finish the run with Randy. You know, with his injuries—and even at some point when we first started teaming up, he got COVID and was out for a couple of months. He got it really bad. And then with the injuries, he’d have to take weeks off here and there.” Matt Riddle said.

“Honestly, I was waiting for him to come back. We were doing the McGriddle, McRiddle thing with Drew McIntyre. But at the same time, I was just a stepping stone for Drew to do his heel turn regardless.”

“But like I said, what I really wanted to finish was me and RK-Bro. RK-Bro has some untied ends—some loose ends if you will. It would be nice to finish that, even if it’s just me getting punted or whatever. It would be nice to put a period at the end of it.”

Matt Riddle: Me And Randy Orton Are Still Friends, He Texts Me All The Time

“But at the same time, that’s kind of like the story of my life, you know? In the UFC, I had a 5-0 win streak, beating top-ranked fighters. Ranked top 10 in the world at welterweight. But you smoke weed, and you’re fired. In WWE, you’re killing it, but your partner gets hurt, and you’re kind of just the guy that gets beat up by The Bloodline all the time—or what have you, which is fine.”

“And then, you know, you go to the airport, have a couple cocktails, and [stuff] goes wrong. People say stuff to you, whatever. At the end of the day, things happen. I am where I am, and I would—people would probably yell at me—but I wouldn’t change it for the world. That’s just who I am.”

“You’re supposed to have ups and downs—life’s on a wavelength. Peaks and valleys, as Tim Thatcher would say. Peaks and valleys. But yeah, RK-Bro—I’d like to finish that. But if I don’t, me and Randy are still friends. He texts me and messages me all the time, and that feels good enough.”
