The WWE World Tag Team Championships changed hands on the December 16 episode of WWE RAW.
In the main event of the December 16 episode of WWE RAW, the War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) challenged Finn Balor and JD McDonagh for the titles. The two teams battled it out in a thrilling match. In the closing moments, Balor went to get a chair, but Damian Priest stopped him. The War Raiders then double-teamed Balor and pinned him for the win. In doing so, they won titles for the first time since 2019.
The Judgment Day won the WWE World Tag Team Championship by beating the Awesome Truth on the June 24 episode of WWE RAW; the loss ended their reign at 176 days. The War Raiders previously challenged for the titles on the November 25 episode of RAW, and The Judgment Day interfered to help Balor and McDonagh win.
Ivar and Erik have dealt with health issues in recent years. Erik had neck surgery in November 2023, and his injuries kept him out of action for over a year. Ivar also dealt with injuries that kept him sidelined for several months earlier in 2024.
The War Raiders are former WWE RAW Tag Team Champions and NXT Tag Team Champions. Their previous title run on the main roster ended in January 2020.
