A new report provides an update on AJ Francis and his status with TNA.
Francis was a featured member of the TNA roster over the past year. The former Top Dolla debuted at TNA Hard To Kill and later went on to win the Digital Media Championship. He formed the First Class tag team and went on to challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship at TNA Final Resolution on December 13. He also competed at TV tapings the next night.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that AJ Francis will see his TNA contract expire at the end of 2024 unless the two sides reach a new deal. Per Sapp, Francis has worked his last contracted dates so far.
The report notes that sources said that both sides have enjoyed working together, and an extension was possible. Tommy Dreamer previously pushed for TNA to give Francis an opportunity.
Sapp also writes that AJ Francis received a lot of praise for his match with Nemeth at TNA Final Resolution.
In a previous interview with Cultaholic Wrestling’s Tom Campbell, Francis confirmed that his deal was up on December 31. He also said that he would be open to re-signing if it made sense.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
AJ Francis On Potential NXT Return
In a recent interview with Wrestleholics, Francis commented on potentially returning to NXT.
“I would love to do some work at NXT and go back to WWE. That would be great. I’d love to be in a Royal Rumble, but they’ve got my number. They had it the two times they fired my ass.”
“I’d love to help Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins and B-Fab. Because they seem to be getting jumped and getting their ass whooped. They need a little backup, you know? I’d love to come help Ashante too. You know, he’s got a little love triangle situation going on. I’ve seen how that pans out for a lot of men. So, I’d love to be there and have my brothers’ backs in that situation.”
