Tony D’Angelo Lands Guest Starring Role On The CW Series ‘Wild Cards’

Tony D’Angelo found a new gig on the silver screen.

Variety is reporting D’Angelo, the current NXT North American Champion, has been cast in a guest role on season 2 of Wild Cards. The series, which airs on The CW and CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), follows a detective (Giacomo Gianniotti) and con-woman (Vanessa Morgan) who are forced to team up with each other. Together, they use their skills to solve cases and learn to trust each other.

Tony D’Angelo will play Jaws, “a formidable and commanding criminal mastermind.” Martin Sheen, Ally Sheedy, Marie Avgeropoulos and Katie Findlay also joined season 2 as guest stars.

Season 2 of “Wild Cards” premieres on Jan. 8 on CBC and CBC Gem, and on Feb. 5 on The CW. The latter is also the weekly home of WWE NXT.

Tony D’Angelo wants his in-ring work to get more credit

The NXT North American Champion recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. “The Don” said he’s certainly proud of his character work in NXT, but he feels that his in-ring work deserves just as much praise.

“When fans hear the name Tony D’Angelo, they immediately attach it to the Italian mob, which is fine. I am proud of all the character work and I do work really hard on that stuff. So, I think it is great to be recognized for that,” he explained. “But, I think my in-ring work doesn’t get enough recognition for the things I can do, the athlete that I am.

I was a Division 1 collegiate athlete. I can go if I need to. But, I do, I leave it all in the ring every time. So, I guess that. But, to be honest with you, I’m not really concerned with everybody else’s opinion,” D’Angelo pointed out. “I’m just concerned about getting better myself. I know what I can do. The boss man knows what I can do. And hopefully through my work, shows everybody that I am the full package.”

Tony D also wants to “swing the narrative” about Italian culture and show fans that it’s more than just pizza and spaghetti and meatball memes.
