Mercedes Moné was beside herself with joy when the realization that she is going to wrestle at the Tokyo Dome hit her.
At NJPW Strong Style Evolved, Mercedes Moné beat Hazuki to retain the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship. Following the match, she grabbed a microphone and laid out an open challenge for Wrestle Dynasty at the Tokyo Dome on January 5th.
In a huge shock, Mina Shirakawa answered the call. They agreed to put both the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship and Mina’s Undisputed British Women’s Championship on the line in a winner-takes-all bout.
This match is a huge deal for Mercedes Moné, who will achieve her dream of wrestling at the Tokyo Dome against somebody she thinks of as a good friend.
Mercedes Moné spoke on her social media live stream and gave her reaction to the announcement of her match with Mina Shirakawa at the Tokyo Dome.
“One of my biggest goals, my biggest dreams. I get to perform, I get to wrestle at the Tokyo Dome” Mercedes Moné said before pausing and beginning to cry.
“I’m so freaking happy. Its so cool. Its so cool that I still get to chase my dreams nad accomplish dreams. I’m so happy.” The TBS Champion sobbed. “I’m so happy that it’s against Mina [Shirakawa]. When I first went to Japan, the guy who makes Rey Mysterio’s gear contacted me. He said, ‘I want you to meet Mina. She speaks pretty good English. She will show you around Japan.'”
“She messaged me, she was so sweet, she took me around Japan and took me to so many cool places. Now we get to wrestle each other in the New Year! I can’t believe the new year is like two weeks away and I did so much this year. I’m so thankful.”
