Kofi Kingston has called Cody Rhodes’ attack by Kevin Owens “karma” after a backstage confrontation.
The WWE Champion confronted Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods following their split from Big E. During the New Day’s 10-year anniversary celebration, they chastised the former WWE Champion for abandoning them and kicked him out of the group.
This led to Cody Rhodes making a surprise appearance on Raw on December 9th. He ran into the New Day and said they “should be ashamed” of themselves for their treatment of their former best friend.
This rubbed Kofi Kingston the wrong way, as he reacted with glee following Saturday Night’s Main Event. Despite losing against the WWE Champion, Kevin Owens hit Cody Rhodes with a Package Piledriver following the match, which left him out of action with an injury for an undetermined amount of time.
Despite the horrific nature of the attack, Kofi Kingston saw it as just. On Twitter, the New Day member reacted to the article explaining Rhodes’ injuries. He posted the clip of the WWE Champion confronting Woods and Kingston, replying with one simple word that summed up his feelings – “Karma”.
The implication of this Tweet is that Cody Rhodes deserved what happened to him. Because of what he said to the New Day, Kofi Kingston saw what Kevin Owens did as simply Cody Rhodes getting what was coming to him.
This could lead to a feud between Kofi Kingston and Cody Rhodes going forward, although it depends on how long he is out with his “injury” and if he keeps the belt out of Kevin Owens’ hands.
Xavier Woods also Tweeted following the attack. He asked when Cody Rhodes was coming back from injury, using his faux-concern to mock his long-term wrestling rival.
“Damn. I wonder when he’s coming back?”
