Gunther Reflects on Retaining His Title at Saturday Night’s Main Event

This past weekend was the return of a classic live event, Saturday Night’s Main Event. One of the marquee matches of the night was the Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship between the champion, Gunther, and his challengers Finn Balor and Damian Priest. After a fierce battle, The Ring General managed to retain his title by pinning Balor.

After the match, in a backstage interview with Pete Rosenberg and Jackie Redmond, Gunther reflected on picking up the win at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“I feel very good! Thank you. Very rough weeks leading up to that. And after that, the only thought that’s really on my mind is, ‘What did I doubt myself for?’ I was the greatest all along. One stone on my is not a big thing. I should have swallowed that and keep going. And I questioned myself and yeah, I’m going to learn from that for the future.”

The Ring General also compared this Triple Threat match to the one he had at WrestleMania 39 against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship.

“He didn’t make a mistake on behalf I would say. He got himself in a position now. And yeah, I think it was an advantage for him. Because I got no personal feelings involved in that. Or at least I usually don’t have to. Maybe I had to… A little bit more this time. But similar to WrestleMania when I faced Drew and Sheamus, they had their thing going on. The feud and yeah, once again I capitalized on that,” Gunther said.

Gunther has also gained his confidence back.

Who do you think will be the one to dethrone Gunther?
