Drew McIntyre On Beating Sami Zayn: One Down, Four To Go

Drew McIntyre teases what’s next following his win at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

McIntyre faced Sami Zayn at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event and scored the hard-fought win.

In a tweet after the match, Drew McIntyre commented on his win by saying, “One down. Four to go.”

Drew McIntyre had been absent from WWE for nearly two months, as he took some time off following his loss at WWE Bad Blood. He returned on the December 2 episode of WWE RAW and attacked Sami Zayn and Jey Uso. The following week, he made it clear that he was targeting the Original Bloodline.

Drew McIntyre On His Absence

McIntyre recently commented on his time away from WWE. Speaking on KWCH 12 Morning News, he noted that he was off, as he had to deal with a loss that his family suffered.

“I was off the past two months,” McIntyre said. “My last match was a Hell in a Cell match, a very brutal match. I got hit in the head at one point, I needed 16 staples to close a wound on the top of my head. I suffered a family loss as well. So I had to go back to Scotland, deal with that, re-evaluate my priorities.

“I realized that I had probably given a bit too much to my profession and to my colleagues and not enough to my family. Kind of realized I’ve been giving too much for the past 17 years, and it’s time to probably start taking a little more, so I’m very much going into tonight with the mentality, I’m gonna take what’s mine, I’m gonna beat up people that deserve to be beat up. Yeah, this is gonna be an interesting phase for Drew McIntyre.”
